We've used Richard Curtis's "Be Your Own Literary Agent" for years (it's entirely due to Richard that my husband never signs an open-ended contract in his consulting business) and now there's a revision. Richard is the Curtis in Richard Curtis Associates, one of the major literary agencies in NYC (thus the US).

He has some very interesting thoughts about the future of publishing, with the new capabilities for "desktop" (pretty big desk to hold all the equipment if you want something that looks good!) publishing, various kinds of e-publishing, and so on. A Google search on "Richard Curtis literary agency" will turn up other material on where it's going, from seminars and interviews and the like.

He's also quite amusing, and like all monomaniacs fun to read. I don't know anyone whose beliefs, theories, predictions, or whatever they are I'd consider more seriously.
