Default Photoshop is 20 years old!

Someone on the Photoshop Users list mentioned that on February 10, 2010 Photoshop had its 20th birthday and he posted a link to "20 Years of Photoshop" which has an interesting history of the software with screen shots of the workspace going back to Photoshop 1.0...

I started at version 2.0, but I've never used more than about 20% of its features. Real World Photoshop 3 by Blatner and Fraser is still one of my constant companions, because of the depth of knowledge they used in explaining the basics that are still the core usage, for me at least, for producing usable print images from some very dodgy originals. It's just that the dodgy originals these days are more often low res images from the web, rather than the classic printed business card with the staple through the logo...

Yeah and they aren't anywhere near as much fun to get "right"--even if you can...'-}}

I think my copy of Real World Photoshop is for version 5 and I'm still using Photoshop 7 because I just can't bring myself to install a version that requires activation...

>>and how much I miss the Easter Eggs.

They don't do Easter Eggs anymore??? Definitely taking themselves way to seriously...'-}}

No creative fun at all in there any more. I do have to wonder what the PS devs do for fun when they need to recharge the creative batteries.

Long live the Big Electric Cat!

Hear, hear! I stalled on upgrading that version (4?) for a very long time because I didn't want to lose the cat.

He was still there in the next version, clinging to the floating box.

I think that is the version I started at too, but I no longer have the disks so I can't be sure - I do remember I started well before the programs came on CDs.
