Default indd page resize nightmare

I am trying to change the height of book chapter files filled with linked text boxes and images, by .25 inch in height. They are made with master pages, separate ones for left and right. If the file is bigger I get a crashing message, and if it does change the size, all the text and images ONLY on the left-hand pages are all moved around. This is a major disaster over here. Its the first book I"ve ever done in indd, has worked out great til now, but needs to go to the printer VERY soon. Anyone out there who can save my life? The book has 400 pages, so will be very hard to put back in place by hand. The files range from 5 to 32M in size, mostly around 10M.
