Check Search now
For Marjolein and others who have been patiently waiting:
Try the Search function now. I do believe it is fixed. __________________ :: [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] |

I'm sure that when that works, advanced search will work as well. Now - what did you do to get it working? Re-indix the whole forum? __________________ Marjolein Katsma Look through my eyes on Cultural Surfaces (soon!), My ArtFlakes shop and Flickr. Any chance of introducing a New Messages to Me link -- it's one of the few useful things in P-CIS.

vBulletin (the software that is this forum) does not have the concept "to me." To implement that concept--and all of the associated functionality--seems to require a massive modification to the code.

I agree that it would be useful, but it does not seem to be included in the concept of vBulletin. To manipulate the software so it could work means — if it could even be possible — to make changes that would break with every update. (And the updates, mostly for security reasons, are common.) It has always seemed to me to be the Holy Grail to have messages “to me” but the cost is prohibitive. And even worse, the tide of forum software seems to consider that a ridiculous notion. __________________ :: [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] |

It's a shame since so much here is better.
I have to try to remember which threads I've posted in and then to see if anyone has replied to me ..... It's odd that they should have threading but no concept of "To Me" __________________ Hugh |
