Filter Forge, Three New Editions Released
Filter Forge runs under Windows, but the Mac version should be out soon. Filter Forge works as a plugin and a stand-alone application. It was first released as a visual node-based environment that allows graphic artists to build their own filters that produce seamless textures, visual effects, patterns, backgrounds, frames and more. Plus it comes a library of pre-built filters, which you can use or modify. The program is now available in three versions.
Basic edition costs $99 and allows full use of all filters in the library. As I am typing this there are 2165 filters in the library, and the number is always growing. The limitation, though, is you can't build or modify filters. Only use them. Standard edition costs $199, and adds the ability to build and modify filters. But it leaves out some high-end features like support for 16- and 32-bit images, bitmaps larger than 3000x3000 pixels, image maps (bump, diffuse, normal, etc.) and a couple other things. Professional edition is $299 and has no limitations. You can also get a free or discounted copy by developing high use filters. To find out more: http://www.filterforge.com/ |
