Default A New Home for Old Computer

I recently bought a new computer, and was looking for a place to donate my old Pentium III. This 6-year-old computer still works and I hated to just scrap it.

I happened to read about the Cristina Foundation in the May 2007 edition of The Family Handyman magazine.

The national Cristina Foundation arranges donations to nonprofits and schools, and will find organizations in your area that need computer equipment.

I contacted them online and within one working day they found a new home for my old equipment. Someone came right to my home to pick up the used equipment. Once the donation takes place, they provide documentation for a tax deduction.

The Cristina Foundation can be contacted online at cristina.org.

Thanks for the information. They have been around for years and years — good to know they are still operating.

They have fairly strict rules about what they will accept, and the list includes only fairly recent models. For Macs you must be offering full system with monitor; PC owners can off parts of a system.

There may be other places that are more flexible. Maybe someone will list them here.

Here is a direct link to the National Cristina Foundation.

Thanks for the information...(etc.)...
You're welcome, Kathleen. My old comuter went to an organization that checks the equipment, loads it with educational software, and then donates it to disadvantaged families with children.

That seems much better than having to scrap the equipment.
