Default Graphic Slowness

I occasionally attend a group on Second Life, which is a graphical virtual world with many communities. The performance was always horrible. For example, when I typed in a message the screen could not keep up with my typing. All navigation was delayed and jerky. But I finally discovered that if I reboot my computer, performance is reasonable. For example, no lag when I type.

Something on my computer must be clogged. Maybe a video cache. Thing is, I don't notice the problem elsewhere. For example, in regular chat rooms I don't get lag.

Any ideas?
