Text Editor for large files
I know we have had this discussion before, years ago, but I don't remember the answer.
If I have a really big text file (250 megabytes), how can I view it/edit it while learning how to import it into a database. (Aside, can MS Excel import that big a file?) |

I'm a great fan of TextPad when using Windows. It's the closest I've come to a text editor that approaches the power and ease of use that BBEdit gives me on the Mac. It does standard Unix-style GREP, unlike most other Windows text editors, which tend to want to do Microsoft flavoured regular expressions.
Oh, and it's fast, does a good job of comparing files, and is shareware. And it will handle your 250MB file with ease. http://textpad.com/ __________________ |

TextWrangler for the Mac would be a great option.

Let us know how it works out. If it doesn't, here's one place to check: http://www.snapfiles.com/software/pr.../text_tnr.html
