Thank you, Marjolein.

I have been accepting the defaults for the Windows task bar since NT4 at various client sites and my own Win2K ThinkPad, so obviously I need to rethink it.

And you are right – the Mac dock can be moved, but, like the task bar, defaults to the lower edge of the screen.
