So when are you going to jump in and start testing WordPress? You can always change or add themes, after all. Do you know yet if you like working with it?

As soon as Debbie lets me know she's created database for me. I asked her to do it when she got a breather, so I've been awaiting her "it's ready" email. Maybe I'll ping her again after I post this. She was probably very busy with family stuff over the weekend.

Found another fluid theme I like a lot, but would certainly want to change the pic, perhaps one color, maybe experiment with fonts — Home Sweet Home. But the layout really appeals to me.

I don’t find a way to enlarge the thing to really see, but if the main text sits right next to the left side of the screen (like the page that describes it), then I would certainly want to change that. And I always have a problem with headings (like the title in the illustration) that sit in limbo over the gap in the middle of the screen rather than over the content. And with centered headings in a flush left layout.

Never mind. Picky, picky.

The title and banner might be difficult to alter (can’t tell without trying it).

Anyway, good luck. Have fun getting used to WordPress.

Try selecting Home Sweet Home from this link to the site's test run installation.

I hope to by the weekend. Turns out my site may not be on the server that has already had WP successfully installed, but I hope to know before tomorrow.

Huh? Should be no problem so long as PHP 4 and MySQL are available.

Or go to A Small Orange, sign up for a $25/year site (the “Tiny” plan) and let Fantastico install WordPress and set up the DB for you. Saves anxiety and weirdness.

Thanks — that works.

Yes, you may want to do something to the left-hand margin to get the text off the edge. Very unsettling to read that way.

Well, at the moment I am not experiencing anxiety or weirdness, but I'll take a look. It is an attractive price.

Agreed. Feels like it's getting ready to sneak off the left edge and disappear. Makes me want to tug the browser window to the right.

Andrew and I both have sites there, as do some others here.

Seems to run well (though I have no stress-tested the e-mail yet).

Email would be a big consideration in any move. I have five accounts (so far) I've set up for my domain and they'd have to move and work inerrably. I'd also need to control them completely, as in creating new or killing them instantly 24/7. I haven't had to do much of that, but when I need to create a new addy for a specific purpose, I can do it and not have to put in a request and wait sometimes days (which is something I remember chafing under with my previous host). Right now I have a couple of those addresses that might need to change sometime within a couple of years, so I need the ability to do it myself.

So what do you define as "stress-testing email?"
