Default Adobe to offer free Photoshop on-line

According to an article in CNet, Adobe plans to offer Photoshop-like capabilities to users on-line within six month. There will be no charge for the service, which they expect will be paid for by advertising.

Thanks to Alan at Snarkish for pointing this one out.

Awesome. What with google about to offer word processing and spreadsheets online, maybe in a few years we won't have to buy software anymore.

The announcement said that it would not be a full-up Photoshop, and that they would entertain the likelihood that once a user tasted the free sample, they might trade up to the real $$$ thing.

More info in John Nack's blog at http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2007/03...ts_this_a.html

Similar to what is already being offered for video editing via the web.

Thanks, John. It all makes sense, I guess. I don’t relish doing much of anything (more than I do) while on-line, but there is a whole new world out there.
