I don't understand what you mean by "related fields which show up in different rows in my Excel doc." Could you post an example of the kind of data file you want to import with XData, or send it to me via email (owades AT alum DOT mit DOT edu)? I'll be glad to advise once I have a better handle on the situation.

In general, Xdata expects to see records (which correspond to rows in Excel) that all have the same structure, and it uses field names to refer to what would be columns. If you have records with different structures, you can deal with that too, but you have to give Xdata some way of telling what sort of record it's processing. It's better to have a consistent record structure, and that's what any good database setup should give you--even if you're merging data from related tables.
