To embed or not to embed?
Does Illustrator work better if you embed images or link to external files? And what about InDesign? CorelDraw seems to prefer them to be embedded, Quark doesn't seem to embed anything, and PageMaker appears not to mind either way. I don't remember which way works best with FreeHand and, as nobody's ever sent me a Ventura document, I can't comment on that one.
For me, links are useful because I can edit an image and the layout program will update automatically - with a bit of luck. But I also like to embed because everything's in one, neat file. Do you have a preference? Do let me know. Last edited by Robin Springall; 03-02-2005 at 04:06 PM. |
