Scanning Software Recommendation Sought
I've home built a new computer system and installed XP Pro SP2 on it. I have a Brother MFC-8840D printer/scanner/fax. The scanning software I use on it came with the machine and is PaperPort SE version 9.2.0.814.
I wish to acquire better scanning software for it as well as for a yet unchosen new oversized flatbed scanner. My major applications are: 1) To scan correspondence through the document feeder, then to rotate or align them as necessary, apply any effects or filters to clean up the appearance of the documents, resizing as appropriate. 2) To scan typed bound notebooks, either single or double-faced, align and rotate, remove shadows on the left or right or down the center, trim margins, center to preset margins, crop, resize, etc. 3) To scan bound oversize material with full indexing of included text. This material includes b&w and color photos, half-tones, drawings, illustrations, with captions to figures. If I knew enough about what existing software is capable of doing, I would probably add to my desired list of features and functions. Would Adobe Acrobat Standard do all of the above, or would I need better OCR software as well? If so, what would be good candidates to complement Adobe Acrobat Standard, which I presume is necessary to create PDFs with indexing. __________________ RJ Emery, Eastern USA WordPerfect X3 on W10 x64 |
