Default Update Graphics Software

After 13 years I am finally thinking of updating Paint Shop Pro 7.00 to a newer version.

PSP 7 still meets most of my needs. I am no power user. Mostly I use it for rotating, cropping, resizing and compressing photos. Occasionally I use the effects, colours and layers menus. Now and again I have created the odd gradient (now redundant with HTML 5?).

The one thing PSP 7 doesn't do very well is batch processing and macro scripting which would be a significant reason to upgrade.

Upgrading to PSP X5 would seem to be a logical step. Any one aware of better options?
