Too Big A File
Perhaps I got more than I can actually use. I have a file with about a million tab-delimited text records, totalling about 304 MegaBytes. I want to work with this in a database.
My initial plan was to use MySQL locally, but in the past I have had trouble getting MySQL/PHP/Apache to work locally. I have been quite successful with using MySQL with a web hosting company, but not recently. What I would like is a way to get just a few records off the beginning of my huge file, to work with in MySQL. I can import 65,000 records into Excel, and I suppose I could export some of those. I once knew how to do such things, but time flies by, and I forget. I would also like to run MySQL locally. I downloaded XAMPP once more and installed it, but I am as baffled as I was the previous time in getting it to do anything useful. Any suggestions? |
