Definitely. When I travelled on business any flights in the US were regular/economy class but for flights over 10 hours (overseas basically), the company paid for business class. For a number of years, we were really lucky in that we did not have to use the company's travel department using the local American Express office instead. This was quite nice because I often was able to fly first class in the US because the company paid full fare for "regular" class and I would pay the minimal difference (usually less than $40) between that an first class. We couldn't do that any longer when we were forced to use the company travel department...

Yes I remember when First Class was only about 10% more ....
