Default Scanning photos, negatives & slides

Terrie,
I actually have three scanners: for the negatives and slides my sister treated me to a new Espon Perfection V800. It can scan up 8x10 transparencies so for the larger negatives it's great. The deal is I get to scan her thousands of slides in return. Since I'm mostly using the scanner to scan family photos and negatives, I think it's a good deal for us both. My old V500 was getting creaky -literally - and sometimes didn't want to wake up when I started the software.

For all purpose regular scanning I usually use the little Canon LIDE600F since it does a better job of OCR and going to PDF. It's a great little scanner about the size of a thin laptop so we can carry it with us when we need.

I splurged last year when my Epson R380 became unreliable for decent color printing and got an Epson MF-7520. While I really don't like the all in one concept this one scans up 11" x 17" and can print up 13" x 19" with smudge resistant ink. I've scanned some family scrapbooks - grandmother had some back to 1935 - and it's great being able to fit the pages on the scanner without having to move them around and try to paste pieces together in PhotoShop. The WF-7520 was a great deal refurbished direct from Epson for $170 with free shipping.
