I do that too, after losing a heap of equipment once when a lightning bolt hit the local council multi-storey carpark which is about 500m from here. Pity the poor guy who had to replace every single fluorescent tube in the carpark.

In my case, the UPS was a write-off, but the computer equipment attached to it was all fine. Only found out weeks later that the TV was dead.
