Win 7 can make an image of your hard drive to and recover it. Although I gather it's not as flexible as the third party products.

There's a very useful little Microsoft utility that you can download the specifically burns ISO images and will "burn" them to a thumbdrive and not just a disk.

Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool

Very neat and it works on Windows 8 also. I've used it to make installation media on a thumbdrive for Windows 7 and for Windows 8.
