Default Windows 7 Focus Issues

I have been driven slightly nuts in Windows 7 when trying to, for example, create a PDF by printing to the PDF printer instance because the "Save As" window would not open in the foreground--the "Save As" taskbar icon would blink and I would have to click on the icon to get the "Save As" window to open. Also, even though I set the PDF printer instance to display the resulting PDF (in Reader), the Reader window icon would blink on the taskbar rather than opening in the foreground.

After rooting around online trying to figure out not only how to search for the issue but find a solution, I have finally been able fixed the problem...'-}}

1. Start > Run > regedit

2. hkey_current_user\control panel\desktop

3. ForegroundFlashCount: right-click, choose "Modify", change "Value" entry to 0 (zero, either hexidecimal or decimal; default value = 7 (hexidecimal/decimal))

4. ForegroundLockTimeout: right-click, choose "Modify", change "Value" entry to 0 (zero, either hexidecimal or decimal; default value = 30d40 (hexidecimal, 200000 decimal))

5. reboot
