hugh: From what I've read it's on a rental scheme with a yearly payment of $100 pa for up to 5 computers and includes all updates.
That's Office 365 (online approach) and then there's Office Home & Student (? I think), Office Home & Business and Office Professional. You may be (probably are) correct about the updates which sound similar to Adobe's approach...
