Default Major upgrade of Neat Image

For those who don't know, Neat Image is a top noise reduction tool. ABSoft recently released a major upgrade to Neat Image. It is free for registered users.

For the Windows version, read here. For the Mac version, read here

I've only had time to run one quick test. The test image has high levels of noise, along with detail that must be preserved. The most difficult areas are wisps of hair, which need to remain crisp. In past tests, Neat Image handled this image better than other noise removal tools. Now, Neat Image does it even better than before.

Here are a couple of my results using Neat Image, along with a Mac screenshot. The interface is a bit tricky, but the results are good:

Besides Neat Image I also often see Noise Ninja recommended. Comparisons, anyone?

Neat Image and Noise Ninja are usually running about equal in ability. When I posted this thread I felt that Neat Image had pulled ahead. But this can change very quickly, and for all I know Noise Ninja improved shortly after that.

There is also Picture Coolor. Very clunky interface. Very clever noise reduction. I posted about it here: http://www.desktoppublishingforum.co...ead.php?t=1167
