Well, I didn't look at the code but I suspect it needs to load an external resource - it doesn't always start immediately for me, but usually on the second click. Reading up on web fonts I've been using it a lot! Even though I have Firebug+plugins, it's just so much faster for this task. That's using Firefox 12-ish on Vista.
