It was supposed to be free. However, in my experience, after thirty days I think, I was told I needed to buy it or get it free through some sort of deal that I needed to pay for as well. I am not sure why; it could be because I downloaded the wrong version.

Thanks for the suggestion of FreeCommander. So far it seems to suit my purpose, though xplorer is better in navigation and interface. I have not really used Directory Toolkit, though there is one feature that I really like.

FreeCommander is a standard piece of my toolkit now.
After I don't know what, my Vista would no longer search, would no longer show the labels along the top of detailed Explorer view, and would no longer show the size column anywhere, let alone the 'special' columns in views like that for Fonts... Nothing wrong with the core, apparently, because FreeCommander could do most of that just fine - all the (normal, at least) column labels were always there, search works fine, and fast, and having two views in one window can be really handy. I solved the problem (finally traced down to installing 'search 4.0'), but meanwhile FreeCommander has deserved a place on my machine, and I still use it occasionally - especially the search can actually be better or more convenient than Vista's own. __________________ Marjolein Katsma ![]() Occasionally I am also connecting online dots... and sometimes you can follow me on Marjolein's Travel Blog |

I finally got around to trying this. I'm impressed. I wish I had discovered this before. For one, it can display a branch as a unified file list. Nice search feature. Nice filter feature. Lots of features I would not have expected. Right click on a file is a bit slow. But this looks like it will be very helpful.
