I've just come across an oddity that you might be interested in. It was new to me, but could be familiar to the rest of you.
One of my clients reported - at second hand - that some images on their website were displaying on their sides or upside down when viewed with Safari on the iPad. A quick search with Google found the reason: some digital cameras embed the orientation of the camera in the EXIF data for the image, and the iPad respects that information, while other browsers with Windows or OS X ignore it. If the photographer held the camera on its side, that's the way the photo displays on the iPad. The solution was pretty easy, too - I used Irfanview to delete the EXIF data from the images in question. Verifying that it had worked was more difficult! Eventually, I was able to borrow an iPad from one of my neighbours and found that everything was OK. Just another tip to store away for the future. __________________ Regards Tim |

Interesting...I wonder if that's why the last two photos my sister sent me were upside down in the email in which the photos were sent--she has an iPhone and I'm using Thunderbird for that email account. I'll have to pull the photos into Photoshop and check the EXIF data...
