I think you'd better suggest the upgrade a little more strongly. Without the install disks, you're pretty much hooped. An alternative might be to see if second-hand copies can be bought on eBay.

The trouble is, you can't just drag low-level System files back and forth between machines and hope they'll work. You may have gotten the Suitcase extension, but probably missed a handful of other obscure, low-level stuff that's hidden all over the place by the installer. Ditto for "...The Classic environment was copied from a G4 that was failing..." I'm surprised it works at all.

"Unix Executable File" is OSX-speak for "I dunno what kinda file this is". So if it's not recognized, there's something crucial missing from the installation; don't ask me what.

Sorry to be the pessimist, but I fear this exercise is bound to fail.
