The SSD world is growing in really, really nice ways. Once the dust settles a laptop near you will offer 100x throughput improvements.

<< No pricing has been revealed, but Micron hinted that the price of the FHHL card would be over $16 per GB, which works out to be $2800 for 175GB and $5600 for 350GB if the 2.5" version is priced similarly. >>

Yes. Yes.

I hope I didn't imply that these little disks (themselves) would be in a laptop today. The announcement was for a very specific, very new, server specific form factor.

...with frigg'n AWESOME throughput. (i.e., 1-2 *orders of magnitude* faster than anything anyone has ever experienced before)

Disk IO (and to a lesser extent RAM IO) is a significant factor in overall system performance. I find that people are routinely amazed when they first encounter the real world performance of machines I've stitch together that have a "slow" CPU mixed with spectacular IO.

At that price level I doubt if it would even push the pricing for "the more common SATA" down. All that's new here is the controller, not the SSD technology itself. You won't see this in any laptop near you any time soon.
