Default Edit XML?

I have an XML file that one of my programs uses. It has a section that contains presets. I view this in IE, and I can collapse and expand each of these. But I can drag them into a different order (which is what I want to do). I realize I can cut and paste these in a text editor, but that means navigating a lot of text. The editor can't collapse this.

Anyone know of a free Windows program that can do this.

My Windows 7 machine at work has an XML editor on it, and I'm sure Council wouldn't have paid for that. I can't remember what it's called and I always use a text editor. What happens if you right-click a file and select Edit with... ?

My installation of Windows 7 defaults to Notepad. This is a simple text editor that can't collapse grouped data into easy-to-manage fields.

If my IDE couldn't handle XML files I would use Notepad++ for that. It can handle more programming languages than I know what to do with.

Interesting. I downloaded and it is able to collapse XML. Cutting a pasting is still a little tricky, but those vertical lines help get things sorted out. My current editor (PSPad) can't do this.

Thanks for the tip.

Glad to be of help.

Perhaps some of the shortcuts listed here would be useful.
