Default I can't believe I did that!

I washed my flash drive! It was in the pocket of my pants and I didn't remember and it went through the wash...

Soooo...

Stupid...

Is there any hope for its resurrection?

Terrie

PS...nothing all that significant on it but I really like the drive itself...

Time.
Will.
Tell.

Got a slightly warm environment of some kind that'll help it dry out faster? My neighbor doused her Mac laptop with water; I had her turn it upside down so the water'd drain out, then put it out on her enclosed porch where it gets VERY warm in the summer. And then call the Apple store for The Real Advice.

They suggested pretty much the same thing, it turns out, and happily, the patient's all better after a couple of days.

It's hanging from its lanyard (drive end down) off the little thingie for hangers on my dryer which was on for a hour or so drying the laundry I'd washed the drive in. The dryer (stackable) is in a nook in the hallway leading from my kitchen to my bedroom so there's a bit of airflow there...

What I'm worried about is that I might short out my pc if I stick it in the usb drive but I don't plan on testing that option until say...Saturday...

It's a really nice SanDisk 1GB flash drive and I like it because there's an indicator light on the end which goes green when it's plugged in and then when I click on the "remove hardware" icon and choose the drive, the light goes off--nice when I don't have my hearing aids in...

There's nothing on the drive that can't be replaced and certainly drives are cheap now but I'm hoping it will be ok...poor baby...drowned...'-}}

I expect it'll be OK after it's been fully dried out - after all, it doesn't have moving parts to get clogged up.

Surely the thread title should be "I can't believe I did that" though

She's mad 'cause it didn't go <ratso_rizzo>"HEY! I'm WALKING here!" </ratso_rizzo> when she tossed the clothing into the washing machine.

It'll be fine, love. Unless your wash was hot enough to reflow solder, that is
