Let's be big about this.

FOREIGNERS! LISTEN UP!

If you want to have a great weekend and take Monday off too, feel free to do so. You have our blessing.

That, the sniffles and a doctor's excuse might keep you out of trouble with the boss.

It's even been suggested that some foreigners celebrate the loss of the colonies ..... <gdr>

Good opportunity for me to recount my true experience of meeting a US Customs Officer with a sense of humor:

When I was living in England, British-born friends in Atlanta used to ask me to bring tea for them so on arriving at JFK with about 3lbs of tea when asked I said I did have 3 lbs of tea for friends in Atlanta; was that OK?

He drew himself up to his full height and said:

"Sir, since that unfortunate incident in Boston there is no recorded instance of U S Customs attempting to collect duty on tea. Have a nice stay!"

I was on board a Cunard line ship on the 4th of July on year and while sitting in a bar talking to one of the ship's staff, I said something like "oh, I guess you guys don't celebrate the 4th" and he said. "we didn't want you anyway"...'-}}

A promising child, but oh my, look how it's turned out. Just as well it ran away.

Love it!

(Though wouldn't that have been British Customs in Boston?)

This must have happened in the last century. In this one humor has been banned within the federal service.
