Not sure about living with an eReader in UK but as a former Sony Reader owner (tecnically, I'm a current owner it's just that mine is sitting along side the myriad USB, VGA, etc... cables and other old things "straight out of the movie Toy Story") I wouldn't pick it if I had to do it all over again.

Readers are ALL about the available content and Sony ain't got none. Hardware-wise Sony's Reader isn't any different than Kindle. Amazon has content by the shovel.

I use an iPad now (with Amazon Kindle Reader SW) and don't use Apple's Bookshelf functionality. This class of use has been in the news lately but I'll be the first to STOP reading on my iPad altogether if Apple locks out/down the reading experience on iOS.

I fondled a Barnes and Noble Nok Color the other day and it left me in "I want one of these" mental mode. Not for Reading but rather as a cheap (but amazingly good) web connected device (a la iPad).
