That's stretching the boundaries of equivalence, isn't it...?
In a way it is but that is their equivalent. And unless it is something real technical, it does do the job. If you just need a ruler then a micrometer might be too much.

Pretty much an eBook file is a single web page, while a .pdf for print is several pages of a book. Page numbers are all but irrelevant in an eBook file.
