Default U&lc back issues available

The blog fonts.com has begun releasing searchable PDFs of back issues of U&lc, the renowned typography magazine from International Typeface Corporation (ITC), which was published from 1974 to 1999.

They are releasing the issues gradually. The first volume (numbers 1, 2, and 3) is available now. You can choose to download either low-res or high-res versions, without cost.

I have the originals in typical old-newsprint quality. I remember that I dropped everything the day a new issue arrived. They were advertising journals but they also had interesting writing about fonts and typography (my introduction to the work of Jan Tschichold came from an article in U&lc).

This is a great gift, yours for the downloading. If there is sufficient enthusiasm, they will go on to release all 26 years’ worth.
