I think there must be: a lot of characters in the range 0x21 to 0xFF are characters with code points above U+00FF, for Windows and the Mac OS using the Unicode code points must still react to the old ASCII/ANSI numbers. But although Word for Windows can give the Unicode code point if you type in x followed by Alt, it reveals the identity of the character selected: but you cannot select glyphs that you can see but not select.
