Eh? Surely you only need one licence key? If the software needs to be authorised and locked to the hardware, then there must be a way of de-authorising it? What happens if your computer breaks down? Or is this the reason that the give you three licences?

I use Word documents only when someone sends me one, or when institutions demand it. Apple's TextEdit can read basic .doc files and also save to the format.

I also have NeoOffice, the Mac-ified version of OpenOffice, which I use for spreadsheets and databases. Perfectly adequate for most uses, unless you need VBA (which makes it no different from Office 2008 for Mac).
