My daughter has a MacBook Pro, about two years old. At about 14 months the HDD bit the dust. She replaced it with and 80 gb Intel SSD (the fastest available at the time) and is really pleased with the performance. Much quicker startup times and smoother overall. Fortunately, that is her email and writing computer, not her "save every video I want to see" machine. For that she has a Windows 7 box with substantially more normal HD storage.
