Default Prettiest Linux?

What is the prettiest Linux that would be easy for me to download and install. I read that Linux XGL looks great, but I can't find where to download a free version. Only a pay version.

I think Linux XGL just refers to the Compiz desktop addon. It is available for just about any full Linux distribution, all of which have free downloads.

I've never cared for Compiz so I'm not on top of it, but I suggest you ask on the CompuServe Linux Forum, where we have some users who *love* Compiz:

If BSD unix would do you instead of Linux, you can get a free copy from Apple.

'Course, you have to buy the computer to go with it.

But it sure is pretty ... somebody described it once as being so gorgeous he wanted to lick it. I kinda understand that. Sick, I know. ....

I’ll say! A desire to lick any flavor of *nix is seriously weird. Does you wife know about this? <g>

Well, actually, Darwin, the Apple BSD foundation is open source and available free from Apple.

And there's OpenBSD, FreeBSD, NetBSD....

Haven't seen any recent Linux beauty contests, but I'd suggest trying Ubuntu: http://www.ubuntu.com/
