I've never had problems with a Firefox update. Opera is my browser of choice in Linux and Windows, so I don't use Firefox that much. But I do use it. I don't think I have any plugins to worry about except Silverlight, which I need at a few Web sites. A number of things that Firefox needs a plugin for are built into Opera.

I only use a couple of plugins, and Firefox seems able to update them along with its own updates, or I wait until it does. I am not a browser-friendly person. One is enough for me. Learning 2 or more isn't going to happen.

To be fair, I've only had a couple patches, not major version updates, be screwy. And they did fix it quickly. On those occasions, I either backtracked, if it was crashing too much, or used Safari when Firefox couldn't parse a website.
