If there aren't too many you could try converting them to pdf and importing them that way.

Probably by deleting all the text in the Word document so that it only contains the equations, stick a page break between each equation and turn that document into a pdf; then bring a page of the pdf into inDesign using 'place' and resize inDesign's image crop box to show just the equation required.

Don't forget, though, the inDesign doesn't embed place pdfs by default so you'll either need to keep the pdf document with the ID document or tell ID to embed it.
