Default What I've been doing

It's probably apparent from my posting in the typography section that I'm still around. It may also be apparent that I haven't upgraded any software (or hardware, for that matter) in a long, long time.

Although my job entails a fair amount of work on publications, I do almost all of that in Microsoft Publisher, not because I like it but because we have it at every desk. It's all but free to nonprofit organizations; Adobe participates in the same program but an organization can only receive the Creative Suite for one user.

I also seem to get into some odd projects, such as layout of a reusable grocery bag bearing a quotation from the Torah. The attached graphic isn't an actual proof, just the text, in ITC Eras, superimposed on the vendor's illustration of the blank bag.

And I spend a lot of time arguing with people about typographical quotation marks, italics vs. bold vs. underlining vs. all caps (or vs. bold and underlining and all caps), and where a comma is needed (or not). I've threatened to start charging people for excessive use of commas.
