Which version do you have on the netbook? Starter which I understand is what is most likely to be delivered (but I read not obligatory as many blogs have said) or Home Premium which I imagine most would want to use?

Are you running with the 1GB RAM or have you added the extra to 2GB?

On 64 bit, if it is the first time you have used it, the thing to watch is whether there are signed drivers for any hardware you want to continue to use, like scanners or printers, and indeed whether there are 32 bit versions for Windows although I have had no problems with anything earlier either using the default drivers in Windows 7 or using older versions.

Under WIN 7 32 bit I'm running my antique HP SJ5P scsi scanner although I had to install the Adaptec XP driver package for the 19160 scsi controller since Windows 7 does not go back that far, and use TWAIN but if it running perfectly with the old HP Deskscxan 2.9 software that many of us preferred to the later software HP released. It's still downloadable from HP bless them.

I tend to use Run as Administrator when installing applications I trust and the Compatibility mode in Windows 7 (and VISTA) is very good although again I'm not sure it's needed. But I run my wife's WIN 95/98 version of a third party Solitaire Suite using WIN 98 compatibility.
