What kind of cable do I need?
I've been researching setting up my Linksys BEFSR81 router to use with my Verizon DSL modem (Westell 6100F) and I found some documentation on the Linksys site on how to connect everything.
I've attached a jpg of the page showing the hookups and I'm wondering if that yellow cable is significant or if they just used the color to show things better? Do I need to buy a "crossover cable" or a "patch cable"--from what I can gather these are 2 different things and I'm not sure which (if either) I need--or can I take the cable that currently connects the DSL modem to my ethernet card and connect it instead to the internet port on the router? I have a blue cable that came with the router that it appears from the diagram that I would connect from a port on the router to my pc's ethernet port. Sooo...what's best to use? Thanks... Terrie |
