Default Kindle submissions

It appears that the Kindle DX ebook system still does not accept any files as is, except for files which are .html and files which fit into the mobi system.

When Kindle issued the DX system they advertised that they took pdf and .doc, .docx files and they do, but the system gobble that up and spit out a converted file in which all images are put wherever and the text is spread all over. The conclusion is that if you want your book to be on the ebook systems like Kindle and Sony, you will have to pay to get it formatted for that or you might do it yourself in conformity with the .html file format and lay out which is totally different from laying out a book file for printing.

One problem will be the index. If you have one for your book file, it will hardly do for the html file.

I would appreciate if anyone would report on their experiences with the Kindle submission process.

Michael...did you mean to have links associated with "ebook", "mobi", "pdf", etc.? If so, they aren't links...

Just wanted to know if anyone has put any of their material on Kindle and what they did to do that, if they did it all themselves.

pdf and doc docx files change drastically when they are put through the mobi or any other ebook prep program.

Has anyone successful changed over anything to that?

Ahhh...so you just had them red and underlined for emphasis...

Hope someone with experience with this will be able to give you some advice...
