Default Broken image

I am rebuilding my food site on a new host, using articles, images, etc. that were on the old site (I am not using my backup because I wanted to make some changes).

Everything was fine until I got to one article where the image shows up as missing. I replaced the copy with a copy of the one my system (which appears in Preview and in Photoshop just fine), have checked and double-checked the link, and done everything else I can think of, but the image simply will not show. Finally, I went back to Photoshop and copied the original. No dice.

Is there any way to determine how an image is broken? Or can anyone see anything I have done that might prevent it from appearing on the screen?

Thanks.

Could it be the image doesn't have the appropriate permissions set for it on the server?

Interesting idea — thank you.

I checked all my images. All were set at 644, but not that one — it had no permissions set.

I changed them, but still am not seeing the dratted image!

BTW, it was visible before I moved from one host to another.

The address etc. look identical to other pages. The only thing I can suggest is that the file name isn't exactly the same in the html as it is on the server.

All I can tell you is that I copied the url of the image from the page source and pasted it into the browser address. Result is a 404 error.

Have you tried renaming the image by doing a save-as rather than just editing the file name - just to ensure there are no funny characters in the name. Same with the reference to it in the html - delete it and enter it again.

Oh, yes, are names case-sensitive on your new server?

Can't give advice on the problem, but wanted you to know that the font along with the color setting on the top ribbon of the page is really nice. Actually the color scheme on every page is eye catching and real easy on the mind.

I have retyped both at various times, and the last time, copied the title from the HTML and pasted it into the image name on the server.

But now I see what I did: I repeatedly made the same typo (the pmc was supposed to be dmc). Teach me to keep banging my head on the wall when tired!

Thanks.

I actually did most of those things, but reckoned without stubborn stupidity — I made the same typo every time.

Not sure about case-sensitivity, but I always use only lowercase, so that wasn’t the problem. It was all me.
