Default inDesign won't quit with Suitcase

I'm using inDesign CS3 and Suitcase Fusion 2 with Mac OSX 10.5.7.

If inDesign opens a file that calls for Suitcase to open a font then inDesign won't quit. I've tried uninstalling Suitcase and reinstalling in again but the problem persists.

Both are latest versions.

Anyone had any experience of this or have any ideas about solving it?

I don’t have that problem with InDesign (and do not use Suitcase anymore, anyway), but Illustrator often refuses to quit. Haven’t thought about whether font management (auto-activation in particular) might be the cause.

Of course, running these programs without some sort of decent font management would be extremely annoying.

So I just force quit.

I don't run Fusion, but the regular desktop version. I had so much trouble with Suitcase and ID with auto-activation turned on, I searched the web and found I was far from alone. The general recommendation was to turn it off. I did, and the problems went away.

I thought they were supposed to fix it with the latest versions, but maybe not? I'm still running suitcase X1.

Font Explorer seemed pretty good but was starting to not open fonts when inDesign called for them. That's why I swapped to Suitcase.

Yesterday I stopped closed Suitcase and deleted the inDesign plug-in. I then opened up Font Explorer but it could find most of my fonts. Spotlight couldn't find the font files either. So I reopened Suitcase and it found them. Goodness knows where it's squirrelled them away.
