Oops--maybe it's just a feature in the Pro version. Sorry about the bum steer.
I'd suggest TextWrangler, but I see you're on Windows, so that's no good, either. Hmmm...there's gotta be an equivalent (excellent, free) text editor available on Windows that has the compare documents feature. Hang in there, I'm sure someone here will come up with a good idea.
