Default Essay on open source software development

After reading his article on the plight of newspapers I poked around in Clay Shirky’s web site and found this interesting piece on open source software development: “The Interest Horizons and the Limits of Software Love.”

It was worth reading.

If you poke around you will find several essays on open source software design, and on other web issues.

Excellent article! Thanks for that link.

I found the link from the article to "The Cathedral and the Bazaar" in there no longer works though - it can be found here.

I had never heard of Clay Shirky before yesterday, but his name has come up twice since, once in a [print] magazine, another time somewhere else on the web.

As for The Cathedral and the Bazaar, yikes! I’ve bookmarked it for reading later.
