I wonder if Adobe's updater sets the update policy for all Adobe's programs; for instance, I have Acrobat, the Reader, and InDesign, and although I let updater run, it would be annoying if it ignored my wishes for a particular program, because as you say, it waits until you start the programs and then wants you to reboot if you choose to instal an update.
