I'm posting here using Opera 8 Beta. The biggest difference in Opera 8 is that it can be controlled by voice. Unfortunately, I don't have a microphone hooked to my computer to try this. I see some minor changes, such as buttons on every tab for closing the tab. Also, when I start fresh with a new window, I see a small panel near the address area with some choices. This seemed pretty distracting at first, but now it is starting to look useful.

I have a feeling there is not much more for me to see. IOW, not a slew of new interface features. And as for what is under the hood, I haven't been able to test enough to see a performance difference. But, being an Opera fan, it will be pretty easy to get me to upgrade. The first version I bought was version 6, I got a free upgrade to version 7, and I can't see complaining now about giving them a little more money to upgrade to version 8, assuming it renders pages better.

I also use Firefox and IE. Opera is my favorite of the three, because of its navigation and book marking features.

In fact, the upgrade from 7 to 8 is free.

I'm not sure how this works, then. My beta copy is showing ads. Maybe I need to enter my registration code.

If you've installed into the same folder as your previously registered 7.xx, 8 should have inherited the registration. If not, just transfer your OUsr600.dat from the 7 folder to the 8.

Or go Help | Register Opera...

Mostly database work these days. About the only designing I do is for screen layouts and suchlike. Oh, and house plans.

It was taken at a surprise birthday party. Somewhere just out of shot is a cake with candles. Honestly!

I couldn't stand the previous CIS interface. Designed specifically to chase people away. Yuk!
